France’s information privateness watchdog CNIL mentioned on Tuesday that it has opened a preliminary investigation into Chinese-owned video-sharing app TikTok after it obtained a criticism.
“A complaint about TikTok was received in May. This complaint is now under investigation,” a CNIL spokesman mentioned, confirming a Bloomberg report.
He declined to elaborate on the character of the criticism or the identification of the complainant.
In the United States, officers have mentioned that TikTok poses a nationwide safety threat due to the private information it handles.
In June, the European Data Protection Board (EDPB) said it will arrange a job pressure to evaluate TikTok’s actions throughout the bloc after a request from an EU lawmaker involved about its information assortment strategies and safety and privateness dangers.
In May, the Dutch privateness watchdog mentioned it will examine how TikTok handles the info of tens of millions of younger customers.
