A person has died after being attacked by a shark off the east coast of Australia, officers say.

The 36-year-old was bitten on the leg whereas spearfishing in waters close to Queensland’s Fraser Island, north of Brisbane, police stated on Saturday.

A physician and nurse offered first support remedy on shore, however the man was later pronounced lifeless on the scene when paramedics arrived.
