Honda stated Friday it’ll withdraw from Formula One on the finish of the 2021 season as a part of the automotive trade’s transfer away from inner combustion engines. The Red Bull and Alpha Tauri use energy items made by the Japanese producer. Honda stated it was pursuing “carbon neutrality by 2050” utilizing “future power-unit and energy technologies, including fuel-cell vehicle and battery technologies”. Red Bull Team Principal Christian Horner stated: “The shifting focus inside the automotive trade has led to Honda’s resolution to re-deploy their assets and we perceive and respect the reasoning behind this.

“Their decision presents obvious challenges for us as a team but we have been here before and with our strength in depth we are well prepared and equipped to respond effectively, as we have proven in the past.”

Honda returned to Formula One in 2015 however struggled for 3 years working with McLaren.

The firm transferred its consideration to Red Bull’s junior staff Toro Rosso for 2018 after which Red Bull for 2019, and have gained a complete of 5 races during the last two years.
