Going to the cinema is ‘a message of solidarity’

Cinema Park, a 70-year outdated cinema corridor in Afghanistan’s capital Kabul, was demolished regardless of widespread opposition by Afghan artists, cultural activist and filmmakers.

On Twitter, a pattern with the caption “#Don’t_destroy_cinema_park” turned viral in Afghanistan.

Film director Sahraa Karimi, the primary lady to move Afghanistan’s state movie firm and archive, tells BBC Monitoring why she fought to cease Cinema Park’s demolition.
